“Great Lakes Offshore Wind: Moving Forward?” 10th Great Lakes Restoration Conference (Grand Rapids, MI)

A panel formed by Howard Learner (Environmental Law & Policy Center), Dave Karpinski (Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation), and Liesl Eichler Clark (5 Lakes Energy) discussed the topic of Great Lakes Offshore Wind: Moving Forward?” at the 10th Great Lakes Restoration Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The panel was moderated by Frank Szollosi (National Wildlife Federation), who noted in his opening remarks that the US is lagging in developing and deploying wind energy in comparison to Europe and Asia. He also mentioned that the National Wildlife Federation has endorsed two offshore wind projects (Black Island and Cape Wind) in the Eastern Seaboard. Dave Karpinski introduced the Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCO), a non-profit, public-private partnership based in Cleveland with the mission of building an offshore wind power industry in Northeast Ohio.
